#ShareHemp is a call to action!

Do you want to make this world a better place but don’t know where to start??

What if we told you to just #ShareHemp, one fact at a time and one person at a time, in order to participate in a collective effort to move our world forward into a compassionate and sustainable society.

What does it mean to #ShareHemp?

#ShareHemp is a call to action and personal challenge to all hemp advocates to #ShareHemp one fact at a time! At The Share Hemp Foundation, we are here to encourage you and offer starting points on how to break the ice with your parents, your grandparents, your friends or even strangers in order to start an inspiring conversation that could change someone’s life and help protect our planet!

At The Share Hemp Foundation we had to ask ourselves the very same question because the ways and reasons to #ShareHemp are vast and each one of them a worthy cause. We suggest starting with sharing one fact or property about the hemp plant that inspires you the most!! That is exactly what we had to do at The Share Hemp Foundation to figure out where to start!

But if you don’t have one fact that you are personally passionate about, feel free to start with our favorite fact at The Share Hemp Foundation; a fact that inspired us to start a nonprofit and fuels us everyday to build a grassroots movement.

The U.S. government owns a patent for CBD being used as a neuroprotectant! Don’t believe us!!?? Click on the button here to see the official USPTO record.

What is a patent?

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. A patent gives an inventor the right to stop other people making or using their invention. If someone makes or uses that invention without being allowed to, the inventor can sue that person in court to make them stop.

As you can probably tell this is the making for a great conversation but you want to start it off right! A great way to start a compassionate and engaging conversation is to simply ask a question and be genuinely curious with the persons response. Below is a question you can use to start a conversation on this topic. We made two versions of the question- short and long!

Short Version: “Did you know that the U.S. government owns the rights to a compound found in the hemp plant?”

Long Version: “Did you know the US government filed for patent 6630507 for hemp extracts such as CBD being used as a neuroprotectant in 1999, almost two decades before hemp was even legal for Americans to use?

This patent was filed 19 years before hemp became legal with the 2018 Farm Bill. So for over 2 decades, the U.S. government knew about the neuroprotectant properties of hemp cannabinoids while Americans with neurodegenerative diseases where kept in the dark. When you are fighting a neurological disorder, two decades is quite a long time to not have access to a substance that could potentially slow the progression of your disease.

#ShareHemp is Creating Awareness!

Too much time has been wasted for Americans that could have been using hemp cannabinoids as an adjunct therapy for treating neurological disorders as well as many other health related issues. Hemp was illegal when the U.S. Government filed for patent 6630507 in 1999 to use cannabinoids as an antioxidant and neuroprotectant. In 2003 the U.S. government was granted the rights to the patent yet it was still illegal to grow the hemp plant in America. Extracts of CBD first became available in the U.S. around 2016 but selling the product was very controversial even when the 2018 farm bill was passed that legalized the hemp plant and hemp extracts.

At The Share Hemp Foundation we will be creating awareness about this topic to give a voice to those who do not have the mental capacity or ability to research and access alternative therapies on their own; this includes children, animals and adults with neurological disorders. Our first program focuses on creating awareness regarding the neuroprotectant properties of hemp cannabinoids and breaking down the complex terms of medical research so that people can understand the basics without needing a medical degree.

#ShareHemp is Sharing Hemp!

Besides creating awareness, we are also seeking to connect with families in need who have a child with a terminal neurological disorder, such as Juvenile Huntington’s Disease, and support their use of hemp extracts. When we cannot cover a families need we will advocate for hemp businesses to support children in need within their local communities.
